How to turn an ftp site into a drive
How to turn a remote Unix/Linux site
(that you have ftp/sftp/ftps access to)
into a drive on your Windows client.
I have found that programs to do this are very shaky.
You will have to experiment to find what works with your server.
SFTP Drive
- SFTP Drive (not free)
- Free version only allows one drive at a time.
- Paid version will do multiple drives.
- How to clear cache:
- When Linux files have changed on server:
There seems to be no "clear cache" button.
Reload file will not work.
But visit directory listing again and it seems to be able to see what files have changed and will thereafter fetch the new ones.
- How to disconnect:
- SFTP Drive - "Exit" should release the drive.
- If not: File explorer - Right-click on drive - "Disconnect".
ExpanDrive
- ExpanDrive (not free)
- site
- How to clear cache:

WebDrive
- WebDrive (not free)
- site
- It does have a "clear cache" button.
Other software
- sftp clients
- SSHFS
- remote site appears as drive or directory on normal file system
-
Map Network Drive
(built-in to Windows).
- Can this map remote sftp server to a regular drive letter?
-
SAMBA.
Make your local Unix machine
look like a drive in Windows.
