 Pre-requisites
- Linux:
We assume you have some knowledge of Linux.
We will not have any intro to Linux here.
The reason there is any Linux at all in this course
is that we have a Linux web server, student.computing.dcu.ie, available for use.
But in fact, most of the work can be done on a different web server, or even on your local PC.
If you need a refresher on Linux,
 see my
  CA114 course.
 And in particular
How to login to Linux at DCU.

- HTML/CSS:
We assume you have done some HTML and CSS.
But in fact the course is comprehensible even if you have not, or have forgotten.
We will do these topics from scratch from a different angle.

 Labs
- Labs will be used for combinations of lectures and exercises.
- I will do some things on the overhead.
Please do not talk during this bit.
- And then I will give you exercises to do.
Please do talk during this bit.
- Exercises can be done alone or (better) in pairs.

 CA

The CA divides into the following:

-
 Practical 1 - CSS Effects - 40 percent
- Launch week 5.
Submission form will then open, and form password will be given out.
- Deadline week 6.

-

  Practical 2 - JS functionality - 40 percent
- Launch week 8.
Submission form will then open, and form password will be given out.
- Deadline week 9.

- Quiz - 20 percent

 Rules for the two practicals:
 - Teams of two if possible.
One is also allowed.
- You will be developing a web page or web site.
- This will be done in your own time. (Not during labs.)
-
Put it on the Web somewhere. For example, on student.computing.dcu.ie,
but it can be somewhere else.
- You can develop on Linux or Windows or any other OS, but it must be put on the Web so I can see it.
- Build it at a non-obvious URL to prevent copying.

Rules for the quiz:
- Each individual submits answers (not done in pairs).
- This is online, open book.
- No talking.
- Fill in the answers online during the lab. Press "Submit" when done.

- A sample quiz will be provided.
